What is a Ductless MINI SPLIT?

A Ductless MINI SPLIT is a type of heating and cooling system, that allow you to individually control the temperature of specific rooms or areas of your home or commercial space. These systems do not use any ducting to circulate air, but instead contain an indoor component, that usually hangs on the wall or can be installed flush with the ceiling, and a component located outside of the home.

You can also customize your system to fit the needs of your space. One outdoor unit can even be made to attach to multiple indoor components, all with their own unique temperature control, creating an incredibly well-functioning zone system that allows you to feel comfortable in every room in your house and eliminates thermostat battles amongst family members or office staff.

Compact Size

Since the size of these components are smaller than your typical central air unit, having a mini split installed can save square footage of your home or yard. Another great feature is that mini splits do not require ducting to operate, so the installation process is much less invasive. They only require a small hole to be drilled, which is covered by the wall unit, to connect wiring and refrigerant lines to the outdoor equipment, which can be located as much as 50 ft from an exterior wall, in a more discreet location.

Greater Efficiency

The compact size of a Ductless Mini Split is definitely not the only benefit. In fact, they boast about 25-30 percent better efficiency than traditional A/C systems. This is partly due to the fact that no air is lost to the ductwork itself. Most typical A/C units also waste a lot of energy starting up the compressor motor, as a central air system needs to turn on and off several times to adjust to whole house temperature needs. Mini splits, on the other hand, do not need turn on and off constantly; instead, they speed up or slow down based on system requirements. They also adjust for temperature demand in a specific room. How many times have you heard your A/C click on to cool the upstairs of your house, while you are freezing downstairs under a blanket? A Mini Spit system helps prevent wasteful run time due to major temperature inconsistencies. This not only increases efficiency of a Mini Split, but it also cuts down on the workload of your current, whole house A/C. Not only will installing a Mini Split mean a drop in your gas and electric bill, but installation of such high efficiency equipment usually qualifies homeowners for substantial cash back rebates. Installing a Mini Split will lower your carbon footprint and allow you to support greener energy practices, without having to sacrifice your family's comfort.

Climate Precision

Mini splits are a great choice for homeowners who want to have more control over a specific area of their home or separate spaces in a commercial building. Each zone can be temperature controlled to fit the needs of that particular space. Closing or opening vents in a whole house system is hardly a practical solution for comfort in every room. One popular room to install a mini split is the master suite, that can often feel too hot or too cold compared to the rest of the house. Homeowners often have to crank up an A/C system in order to cool their master bedroom sufficiently for sleep, wasting energy, money and making the rest of the house feel miserably cold. We also love to install a mini split into a garage or storage space. These spaces can be transformed into a workshop, playroom, man cave or more, with proper temperature control that keeps a homeowner cool in the summer and warm in winter. We can easily increase the useable square footage in a home without major remodel when we add on a mini split system.
